Two NSCN (IM) members arrested from Tirap
ITANAGAR, Jun 19: In a major breakthrough security forces arrested two NSCN (IM) members from Tirap district on 16th and 17th of this month. The arrested include a SS Lt Col and one SS Major of NSCN (IM).
According to the press release issued by Arunachal Pradesh Police SS Lt Col Phungreisung Tanghkhul alias Asang resident of Somtal village under Ukhrul district of Manipur was recently posted as commander of NSCN (IM) for Tirap, Changlang and Longding Districts. Other arrestee SS Major Thongwang Aran hails from Kaimai village, Tirap district. Security forces recovered 2 AK 56 rifle, 2 AK 56 magazines, 40 rounds ammunition of AK 56 and cash Rs 235600 collected through extortion.
In another operation, yesterday security forces recovered large cache of arms and ammunitions from Tirap. In this connection a case vide FIR no. 49/2014 u/s 121/121A/122/120B/384/506/34 IPC read with section 25 (1A) Arms Act/ 16 (b) UAP Act has been registered at Khonsa police station.
3 arrested, illegal arms recovered
ITANAGAR, June 19: While conducting a special operation a team of city police headed by SI A K Pandey today arrested three persons and recovered two 0.32 Pistols and 17 live rounds from their possession.
The arrested persons were identified as Bengia Kame, 46, of Koloriang, Raj Pegu, 26, of Laluk, N. Lakhimpur and Pranab Saikia, 40, of Bihpuria, N.Lakhimpur. Further investigation is going on. This was informed by Capital SP Seju P Kuruvilla in a release.

Assurance to activate BSNL tower
ITANAGAR, June 19: The BSNL authority yesterday assured the Toru Circle Students Union (TCSU) to make the BSNL tower operational within two months. This assurance came after hour long discussion the union had with BSNL GM, AGM, DGM at Kheel IB yesterday regarding activation of BSNL tower which was erected in 2009.
While citing various problems in making the tower operational, the BSNL GM, however, assured to make it operational within two months if he could manage satellite equipment from higher authority, the Union said in a release. “If such facilities are not available there then he further assured to setup mini link at 19 miles with connection to said tower within this December,” the union claimed.
The union, however, threatened to raise the issue again if there is no work progress as assured for activation of the tower.

ITANAGAR, June 19: Jawaharlal Nehru College Students’ Union of Pasighat in East Siang district on Wednesday called on Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at his office here seeking for a bus in the college.
In an interaction with the chief minister JNC students union briefed the plight of college. Union informed the CM that JNC has been running without a college bus for past many years and the matter had been already submitted to the higher authority but yields no result. The Post Mortem examination was conducted on May 17 at AIIMS, Delhi and “as per doctor’s report no foul play was found to be committed into the incident and doctor found no element of doubt in ascertaining the exact cause of death”, the press release added.
The Rinpoche allegedly committed suicide by hanging on May 16 in Delhi.
There are reports that the Rinpoche had left behind a suicide note, which could be crucial to the whole investigation. However, the content of the suicide note have not been made public as yet.
Police is verifying the finer details in connection with the incident at this stage, they assured to furnish final outcome of their investigation as and when it is concluded, the report added.
Meanwhile, the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh has appealed to the people of Tawang and Bomdila districts to maintain peace and tranquility and to cooperate with the district administration. The precautionary call came from the government as Bomdila has already witnessed violence after the death of the Spiritual guru.
The angry devotees of the Late Rinpoche had damaged the vehicles of the three Tawang MLAs in Bomdila on May 27 and hurled abuse at them, blaming them for the death of their spiritual leader. Minister UD and Tourism Pema Khandu, Parliamentary secretary, rural works department, Jambey Tashi and MLA Tsering Tashi had just arrived at the Gontse Gaden Rabgyeling Monastery, Upper Gompa, Bomdila to pay their last respects when some of the grieving devotees became violent.
Six people were arrested later by the district police for inciting violence.
The press release further lauded the District Students Union of West Kameng and Reverend Monks of both the Monasteries of Bomdila for playing a ‘vital role in pacifying the situation after the unfortunate incident of 27th May’.
Promoting Hindi doesn’t discourage regional languages: Rijiju
NEW DELHI, June 19: As DMK attacked the Centre over "imposition" of Hindi language, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said the new government will promote use of Hindi in all departments and public life.
He also said that promotion of Hindi language should not be seen as "undermining" other languages.
"I have taken a decision that we will give priority to the promotion of Hindi in all communications in various departments and public life because it is our official language," Rijiju told reporters here.
Asserting that the Centre will give due importance to all languages, he said, "We have to progress with our identity, culture, language and diversity. We have to move together. So, promotion of Hindi language should not be seen as undermining other languages."
Since Hindi is the national language, the government should promote it, he said, adding, "It does not mean that we are going to discourage the use of regional languages."
Earlier during the day, DMK chief M Karunanidhi opposed the NDA government's reported directive to officials to give priority to the language in social media.

Though, Tani manages to free himself and returns home to take revenge. By seeing Tani’s return Taro escapes inside the earth and stays there with the Yapoms (Demons) as babysitter.
After some years Tani starts missing his brother and decided to bring back Taro from Yapom’s clutches. Together they kill the Yapoms and return home but Taro’s health starts deteriorating and does not recover.
Tani, on suggestion of his wife, goes for hunting a particular deer for Taro and reaches Tibet following the deer and meets a few Tibetan girls. The girls give him a few pieces of rock salt. Tani brings back the salt to his home and gives it to Taro. Taro loves the salt and starts asking Tani where did he get the salt from. But, he refuses to divulge. Taro then treads Tani’s steps and reaches Tibet. He meets the girls and settles there with them.
The play was of so high quality that the hard work done by the team had clearly been reflected in the play. The sound system, narration and everything was so radiant that the play had completely mesmerized the audiences for a complete one hour. Besides Tani and Taro, other characters were equally brilliant in their performance.
A graduate from National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi, Riken Ngomle, the director of the play, is a visiting faculty with NSD, New Delhi and Sikkim now. As a director, he has directed seven plays and acted in more than 30 plays, aside from making choreography for 20 plays.

The rural farmers of Niglok, Mikong and Ngorlung villages, who have donated their fertile land for the sake of industrial development, have expressed strong concern over the alleged negligence of the state government to develop the most important industrial centre.
They said “It is better for the authority to relinquish our donated land if it is not in use”.
Presently, most of the buildings constructed inside the industrial complex are lying abandoned and in dilapidated condition for the last several years and a larger portion of land of the industrial complex are also lying unused.
The 1000 MT Capacity ‘cold storage’ and other industrial units set up inside the IGC once brought new hope to the commercial horticulturists and entrepreneurs, but inordinate delay in the installation of industrial units finally disheartened them.
The cold storage set up by agriculture department is lying defunct for the last four years in want of power supply.
It may be recalled that the state’s former Industry Minister Tapang Taloh accompanied by the top ranking industry department officials repeatedly visited the IGC and assured to take the industry to a new height of development. But, the minister had miserably failed to keep his promises.
The Pasighat West MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Industry (Independent) Tatung Jamoh along with industry officials of the district recently visited the IGC at Niglok and took stock of its pathetic condition. He also assured to boost infrastructure of the industrial centre for economic enhancement of the local entrepreneurs, but the government is yet to allocate fund in industry and other sectors.

Controversial move
Since taking office as India's PM last month, Narendra Modi has taken a clear stand in support of Hindi, pushing for it to replace English as the preferred language of the new government. Hindi and English are India's two official languages for government business, although India's constitution recognizes a total of 22 languages.
Modi's government has ordered its officials to use Hindi on social media accounts and in government letters. Modi spoke in Hindi and used interpreters in meetings with South Asian leaders last month, and addressed the Bhutanese parliament in Hindi during his first official overseas trip last week. But with more than half of India's 1.2 billion people using another language as their mother tongue, the push for Hindi risks widening communication divides in a highly diverse country, especially in the southern and eastern states, where local languages or English are preferred.
Already dissident voice is emerging with M Karunanidhi chief of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a regional party in Tamil Nadu, on Thursday slamming home ministry for its social media diktat. Modi government is threading dangerous path and this discussion may backfire on them.

Let us have our share too
Dear Editor,
Despite reservation provided by the Central Government in various Public Sector Undertaking, the Authorities concern are not interested in allotting the reserved seat to APSTs. The fact came to light when the recent recruitment result was out where none of the APSTs was selected. I guess the Authority concern doesn't want to recruit any APSTs candidate.
Though I didn't appear for the exam I am really concerned because this is not the only case. BSNL did the same while recruiting Telecom Technical Assistants. There were nine reserved seats for APSTs while only 4 were selected. And I think there are many cases like these which do not come to our notice. Central Government provides us many privileges but some people would not let us get the benefits.
I think we should come forward and fight for our right. If we don't protest, it won't just stop. Just sitting and accusing won't solve the problem. This is our problem and we should fix it otherwise we are the one who is going to suffer.

The market area looks like a mental patient asylum
Dear Editor,
It is very strange to see so many mentally ill persons roaming around the market area in Pasighat town. The rapid rise in number of people with mental health issues from outside the state make me think. How could they enter into the town despite the presence of three strong check gates in between Ruksin to Pasighat town?
Most of these persons, ostracised by the family and society roam in the town in large numbers since the last few months. Sometimes, the market area looks like a mental patient asylum.
Most of them roam semi naked in the market area. Why are the district administration, the police and the elected Councillors are indifferent to these people? What if one of them set a house on fire or attack a child or woman?
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to request the NGOs dealing with such hapless people and also the learned citizens of Pasight town to take up needful steps to put them to a safer place where they would be given special care.

Dear Editor,
I would like to draw the kind attention of the Traffic Police, Itanagar regarding imposition of fines for traffic violators. On June 17, traffic police imposed me a fine of Rs 100 for not showing them papers related to the vehicle. Since I was not carrying the papers with me, it is justified that I was fined. But I was surprised that my brother was imposed a fine of Rs 500 for the same reason and the same vehicle.
Would they allow the vehicles to just go after imposing some fine or would they take out time to check if it is stolen?
I have to share one more experience where I had applied for a new vehicle registration at the DTO office, which was delayed due to non production of Temporary Residential Certificate. I requested many times, which was not entertained.
After few months, i went to a broker and this time it was done in one day. Is it legal or No?

A curse in disguise
Dear Editor,
Being an APTET passed SSA teacher is very traumatic. We have been appointed as SSA teachers in various districts centrally by the Department of Education in the month of October 2013 on the basis of being the first APTET certificate holders. We have been posted at the places where others don’t want to go, where there is least communication, where one has to go by foot to reach the destination. The saddest part of our life is that whereas other SSA teacher have got their salaries up to March 2014 and we, the APTET certificate holders, SSA teachers are still awaiting in agony for the last eight months to have our rightful hard earned honorarium. Now our sincere question to our respected State Project Director SSA that why we are treated differently from other SSA Teachers? Is being an APTET passed SSA teacher mean no payments. Are we being appointed without prior approval from Ministry of HRD from Centre? If it is so then what is the ground reality of appointing us as SSA teachers. Whatever may be the reason feedback through this daily would be much appreciated.
So lastly with a heavy heart one would begin to think that being an APTET certificate holder SSA teacher is a curse in disguise.

The demand for Autonomous District Council (ADC) within the state of Arunachal Pradesh is a negative development as it could bring social unrest in the state because every tribe in the state is backward and no tribe is more advanced or superior than others. Therefore, instead of segregating our beautiful state, there should be demand for the status of sixth schedule for the whole of Arunachal Pradesh, where every tribe/community will have ample scope to preserve and promote their ethnic culture and tradition.
Sixth schedule as enshrined in the Article 244 (2) of constitution, provide for the constitution of Autonomous District Council for the tribal hill areas adjoining Assam where maximum autonomy has been provided to the tribals in the management of their own affairs, land, forests etc.

By looking into two of the important issues highlighted in your news paper on Jampani area of East Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh and Mithun development activities initiated by KVK, Papum Pare in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, I would like to share with the people that Jampani area in East Siang District is an important area which needs to get adequate attention from District administration, agriculture experts, senior bureaucrats, with regard to agricultural development, processing and value addition of agricultural products because this area is literally feeding the entire districts and all farmers in these areas deserve all appreciation and applauds which needs recognition.
Similarly KVK should extend its activities in other Mithun inhabited areas of the state so that entire state get the benefits of Mithun Development which should not be confined only to Papum Pare District.
